Daily Maintenance and Care for Horizontal Boring Machines

Horizontal boring machine is the main equipment for processing large box parts. In the daily maintenance of the boring machine, the main focus is on cleaning, lubrication, and reasonable operation.


The Daily Maintenance Work of the Horizontal Boring Machine is Divided into the Following Three Stages


Before work


Check whether the various components and mechanisms of the machine tool are intact, and whether the positions of various handles are normal; clean various parts of the machine tool, observe various lubrication devices, and lubricate the guide rail surface of the machine tool directly with oil; run at low speed for a certain time when starting.


During work


The main focus is on correct operation. It is not allowed to overload the machine tool or use precision machine tools for rough processing. If any abnormal phenomena are found during the work, the machine should be stopped immediately for inspection.


After work


Clean various parts of the machine tool, move various moving parts of the machine tool to the specified position, and turn off the power.


The horizontal boring machine is generally required to undergo level one maintenance by the operator after accumulating 800 hours of operation, and the maintenance work must be carried out after the power is cut off.


The Content and Requirements of Level One Maintenance of the Horizontal Boring Machine


  • Maintenance of the spindle box and feed gearbox. Lift the dust cover of the main spindle box, check and adjust the V-belt and the clamping pull rod of the main spindle box. Clean various filters and oil tanks; check the tightening of the balance hammer wire rope; wipe the sliding groove of the flat rotary disk and adjust the inlay strip.


  • Maintenance of the worktable and guide rail. Wipe all parts of the worktable, check and adjust the gap between the stopper and the inlay strip; check whether the guide rail is rough or not, deburr and wipe the guide rail.


  • Exterior maintenance. Mainly clean the dirt and rust on the surface of the machine tool and keep the transmission parts clean. Wipe the surface and cover of the machine tool, without rust or yellow spots; wipe all exposed lead screws, guide rods, and rack gears; make up for various handles, screws, nuts and other parts to keep the appearance of the machine tool tidy.


  • Maintenance of the electrical part. Clean the electrical box and motor. Check the position of the electrical device to ensure that the electrical device is fixed, safe, and neat.


  • Maintenance of the back column. Wipe the rear bearing seat and guide rail surface, check and adjust the gap between the inlay strips.


  • Maintenance of the lubrication system. Clean the oil felt, oil tank, and keep the oil hole and oil passage unblocked. Clean the cooling pump, filter screen, and cooling tank. Clean the filter to ensure that the oil cups are complete and the oil mark and oil window are bright.
